# Triggers

Summary: Use the Triggers tab to create rule-based automations, define the conditions, and choose what should happen for the current channel.
Updated: 2026-04-23

Use the **Triggers** tab when you want to work with alerts or automation rules related to the current channel.

This tab helps you review current rules, open one to make changes, or create a new trigger that runs actions when its conditions are met.

## How triggers work

A trigger has two parts:

- **When it runs** - the rule or condition that activates the trigger.
- **What happens** - one or more actions that run when the rule is met.

Create the rule first, then add the actions. The trigger starts working only after both parts are valid and you save it.

## Navigation

Open a channel first, then click **Triggers**.

Use this tab when the rule should apply to the current channel and its related work.

## What you can do here

Use the Triggers tab to:

- search triggers
- open an existing trigger
- create a new trigger
- turn a trigger on or off
- delete a trigger

## Open the Triggers tab

1. Open a channel.
2. Click **Triggers**.
3. Review the current trigger list.

## Create a trigger

1. Open the **Triggers** tab.
2. Click **Add Trigger**.
3. In **Configuration**, enter a trigger name.
4. Keep the trigger **Enabled** if it should start working after you save it.
5. Define the conditional rules that should activate the trigger.
6. Open **Suspend, delay or repeat actions** if the trigger needs timing limits.
7. Click **Next**.
8. In **Actions**, click **Add Action...**.
9. Choose the action the trigger should perform.
10. Fill in the required action details.
11. Save the trigger.

The trigger is created only after you save it.

## Build trigger rules

Rules decide when the trigger should run.

Use the rule builder to choose:

- the value or metric to check
- the comparison or condition
- the value it should compare against
- any additional logic needed for the rule

The trigger needs a name and a valid rule before you can continue.

If the channel does not have the data needed for trigger rules, the configuration step asks you to add charts first.

## Use suspend, delay, or repeat settings

Open **Suspend, delay or repeat actions** when the trigger should not run every time the rule is true.

Use these settings when you need to:

- delay actions before they run
- repeat actions while the condition remains true
- pause the trigger for a period after it runs

These settings help prevent noisy or repeated automation when the same condition stays active.

## Add trigger actions

Actions define what happens when the trigger runs.

Available actions include:

- **Notifications** for posting or sending a message.
- **Task** for creating follow-up work.
- **Form** for creating a form-related action.
- **Webhook** for sending information to another system.

Add at least one valid action before saving. Each action row shows whether it is complete.

## Edit an existing trigger

1. Open the **Triggers** tab.
2. Click the trigger row.
3. Update the rules, actions, or enabled status.
4. Save the changes.

Use the row menu when you want to disable, enable, share, or delete a trigger.

## Tips

- Review active triggers regularly so they still match real work.
- Open an existing trigger when you only need a small change instead of creating a new one.
- Keep trigger names specific so the list is easy to review.
- Use timing limits when a rule can stay true for a long time.
