Source: https://help.zira.us/whats-new/chat-experience-and-performance
Summary: Chats now feel cleaner, more natural to use, and more responsive across creation, preview, and conversation flows.
Updated: 2026-03-26

This update focused on the chat drawer, the create-chat flow, the conversation experience, and the loading behavior around messages.

## Chats and new chat flow

- The Chats drawer now matches the same search and navigation language used in Vision.
- Opening a full conversation is more direct, while the quick preview flow remains available when needed.
- Creating a new private or group conversation now feels lighter and more step-by-step.
- Selected people in the create-chat flow are shown in a more compact and cleaner way.

## Conversation experience

- The mini chat preview was redesigned as a centered modal, giving it a clearer role as a quick chat surface.
- Full chat and mini chat now share a more consistent message composer style.
- Conversation spacing, date separators, reply previews, and footer layout were refined for a cleaner reading experience.
- Dark mode contrast was improved in a few key places, especially around reply previews and message surfaces.

## Performance and responsiveness

- Common chat-list updates now happen more quickly, especially when new messages arrive.
- Latest-message edits update the chat preview faster.
- Message sending and message editing feel more immediate through lighter update handling and optimistic UI in the main conversation view.
- Several loading states were softened by replacing attention-heavy linear progress bars with gentler inline loaders.
- Message and socket handling were tightened to reduce stale UI states and unnecessary rerendering.

## Follow-up

We are continuing to refine group conversation previews in future updates.
