Generate an API key

Create a key from a site channel and copy it before closing the dialog.

Quick start

Three steps from a fresh key to a reading in Zira. Every public endpoint lives under https://api.zira.us/public.

1
Create an API key

Open the site channel you want the integration to write into, go to the Applications tab, and use the add action. Copy the key before closing the dialog — it is not shown again. Full walkthrough

2
Authenticate every request

Send the key in the x-api-key header. There is no login token and no OAuth exchange.

Shell
curl "https://api.zira.us/public/reading?meterId=871&limit=10" \
  -H "x-api-key: $ZIRA_API_KEY"
3
Post a reading

Readings are posted in batches. Each entry targets one meter and carries a timestamped values map keyed by metric ID.

Shell
curl -X POST https://api.zira.us/public/reading \
  -H "x-api-key: $ZIRA_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '[
    {
      "meterId": "871",
      "readings": [
        {
          "timestamp": "2026-08-06T14:30:00Z",
          "values": {
            "501": 72.4,
            "502": 118
          }
        }
      ]
    }
  ]'

meterId is the data source receiving the values, and the keys inside values are its metric IDs — both are shown on the data source in Zira. Post several objects in the array to write to more than one meter in a single call. Readings reference
