Embedded and Custom Widgets
Use Embedded and Custom widgets when you want to reuse an existing widget or build a local dashboard-specific version of a data research view.
Use Embedded and Custom when you want more flexibility than the standard widget list gives you.
These options help when you either want to reuse something that already exists or create a local version that belongs only to the current dashboard.
Navigation
Open a dashboard, enter edit mode if needed, then choose Add widget.
Use these options when the standard widget types do not match exactly what you need.
Choose a widget source
These are setup choices inside the dashboard builder:
- Embedded brings in an existing view
- Custom creates a dashboard-local version that you configure inside the current dashboard
Embedded
Use Embedded when you want to bring an existing widget or dashboard-based view into the current dashboard.
This is helpful when:
- you already have a working widget elsewhere
- you want to reuse an established view instead of rebuilding it
- you want to connect dashboards without duplicating the original logic
Custom
Use Custom when you want a dashboard-local data research widget that behaves like a tailored chart or table.
The custom flow can support local widget types such as:
- KPI
- Grouped KPI
- KPI Table
- Column
- Bar
- Pie
- Time series
- Data Table
When to choose which one
Choose Embedded when the source already exists and you want to reuse it.
Choose Custom when the dashboard needs its own local version and you want to configure it inside the current dashboard flow.
Tips
- Use Embedded to save time when a good source already exists.
- Use Custom when the dashboard needs its own tailored version.
