
Use the **Feed** tab when you want to read updates, track recent activity, or return to ongoing conversations around the channel.

This is the main activity stream for the channel and often the best place to start when you want to see what changed.

## Navigation

Open a channel first, then click **Feed**.

Use this tab when you want general channel activity rather than one specific asset or workflow.

## Open the Feed tab

1. Open a channel.
2. Click **Feed**.
3. Review the recent posts and updates.

## What you can do here

Use this tab to:

- read recent posts and updates
- open a post to review it in more detail
- return to the feed when you want a quick view of what changed
- add a new post when you want to share an update

If you are checking general channel activity, this is usually the first tab to open.

## Tips

- Use the Feed tab for overall channel updates.
- Move to another tab when you need to work on tasks, files, forms, or another specific area.

Use the **Remote Control** tab when you want to work with the camera live.

## Before you start

Open a data source, then select **Remote Control**.

## How to use it

1. Open **Remote Control**.
2. Click **Start live view** on the right.
3. Wait for the live image to open.
4. Use the actions on the right when you need them.

## What you can do here

- **Start live view** opens the live camera view.
- **Stop live view** closes the live camera view.
- **Record videos** opens the video recording window.
- **Image sampling** lets you collect images automatically.
- **Data stream** opens the live data panel.
- **Device settings** opens the device's settings, kept in sync with the device.
- **Trim saw stops** calibrates a trim saw's cut positions — see [Trim Saw Stops](/docs/ai-vision/trim-saw-stops).

## Record videos

Use **Record videos** when you want to save new videos from the device.

You can choose:

- what kind of video to record
- how long each video should be
- how many videos to save
- how much time to wait between videos

## Image sampling

Use **Image sampling** when you want to save still images automatically.

You can choose:

- how often to save an image
- how many images to collect

## Data stream

Use **Data stream** when you want to see live device data next to the camera view.

## Device settings

Use **Device settings** when you want to adjust how the device runs. The settings stay **synced with the device**, so you always see what's actually in use.

Settings are grouped into tabs down the side — such as **Camera**, **Sampling**, **Detection**, **Measurement**, **Validation**, and **Overlays** — so you can jump straight to the area you need. Use **Cancel** to close without saving, or **Save** to send your changes to the device.

### Overlays

Use the **Overlays** tab when you want to line up the guides that sit on top of the picture — the detection **mask**, **ruler lines**, and the **zero point**.

- Choose whether to place the overlays over a **live view**, a **recorded video**, or a **still image**.
- **Drag the handles** to move or resize each overlay directly on the picture.
- Use the **Layers** list on the right to add, hide, or remove individual overlays.
- Click **Save** to send the updated overlays to the device.

## Trim saw stops

On a trim saw camera, **Trim saw stops** calibrates the saw from here: the camera measures where the
stops are while you watch the live view, and you tell it what size each one cuts.

Remote Control


Use data research widgets when you want to turn readings into a dashboard view that is easy to scan.

These widgets depend on the right data source and metric context being available first.

## Open the data research widget menu

1. Open a dashboard.
2. Click **Dashboard options** next to the time range.
3. Click **Add widget**.
4. Open the **Data Research** category.

## KPI

Use **KPI** to highlight one primary value.

This widget can also show:

- comparison to the previous time period
- a trend view
- gauges
- color ranges
- formatted time output

Use it when one value is the main story on the page.

## Grouped KPI

Use **Grouped KPI** when you want KPI-style values split by a grouping dimension instead of shown as one total.

This is useful when the same metric needs to be compared across categories.

## KPI Table

Use **KPI Table** when you want a tabular KPI summary instead of a single-value card.

This is useful when the dashboard should show several KPIs together in one compact block.

## Column

Use **Column** when you want a vertical comparison between values or categories.

This is a good choice when users need to compare magnitudes quickly.

## Bar

Use **Bar** when the same comparison reads better horizontally, especially when labels are longer or category names take more space.

## Pie

Use **Pie** when the main question is how a total is split across parts.

Use it carefully. It works best when there are only a few segments and the relationship between parts matters more than exact value comparison.

Turn on **Show Legend** in the chart options when the slice labels are hard to read on the chart itself, or when you want the segment names listed beside it.

## Time series

Use **Time series** when the change over time is the main story.

This widget is useful for trends, direction, seasonality, and before-versus-after review.

## Indicator

Use **Indicator** when you want a compact at-a-glance signal rather than a full chart.

This widget is useful when the dashboard needs a fast visual status check.

If the field you point it at is a yes/no field, the indicator now reads **True** or **False** instead of a raw value, so a status tile says what it means without extra setup.

## Common setup pattern

Most data research widgets follow a similar setup:

1. choose the source channel or data context
2. choose the metric or function
3. choose the display style
4. review the preview
5. save the widget

## Tips

- Use **KPI** and **Indicator** for summary rows and top-of-page status.
- Use **Column**, **Bar**, **Pie**, and **Time series** when users need more explanation and pattern recognition.
- Use **KPI Table** when the dashboard needs a compact operational summary without many separate cards.
