Set Up a Tablet
Install op.zira.us on a tablet and run it in kiosk mode at a work center.
Use this guide to set up a tablet as an Operations App station. The goal is a tablet that stays at a work center, shows the operational dashboard, and is ready for an operator to use for the whole shift.
This is usually done once by a supervisor or admin, then left in place.
Before you start
- A tablet for the work center.
- A Zira account that has access to the site and the dashboards the operators should see.
- The dashboard or operational view you want to display already set up in Zira.
Open the Operations App
- On the tablet, open the browser.
- Go to op.zira.us.
- Sign in with the account that should run this station.
Install it as an app
Install the Operations App so it runs full screen and behaves like a native app.
- Follow the install steps for your tablet in Install the Zira App.
- On iPad (Safari), use Share → Add to Home Screen.
- On Android tablets (Chrome), use the browser menu, then Install app.
- Open Zira from the new home-screen icon so it launches full screen.
Choose what the tablet shows
- In the Operations App, open the operational dashboard for this work center.
- Confirm it shows the metrics and reporting the operator needs.
- Leave it on that view so the tablet is ready for the shift.
Run in kiosk mode
Kiosk mode keeps the tablet locked to the Operations App so it stays on the right view during the shift.
- Launch Zira from the installed app icon so it opens full screen.
- Set the tablet's display to stay awake while it is docked or powered.
- If your tablets are centrally managed, use your device management tool to lock them to the Operations App.
- Mount or dock the tablet at the work center where operators can reach it.
Tips
- Use a dedicated account per station so the right dashboards load automatically.
- Keep the tablet on power at the work center so it never sleeps mid-shift.
- Confirm the operator can complete their day-to-day reporting from this view before you leave it in place.
